OPRAH SAYS
Last night Kyuti and I went to my new favorite Brooklyn bar, drank a bottle of wine each, and wrote in our Gratitude Journals™. As you probably already know, The Gratitude Journal™ was invented by the inimitable Oprah Winfrey©. Oprah Says, you should have a Gratitude Journal™ and write down everything you are grateful for on a regular basis, even breathing. Oprah says you should remember to be grateful for your BREATHING because sometimes we forget. Actually, Kyuti might have said that over glass #4, but I'm sure Oprah has said it too. Oprah writes things down all of the time in her Gratitude Journal and she says IT HAS LITERALLY CHANGED HER LIFE.
CHANGED HER LIFE.
Anyway, Kyuti and I were really excited about everything that was flowing out of us and into our Gratitude Journals. The bartender - we'll call him Rason - could not help but notice and inquire and continue to fill our glasses of sweet, sweet alcoholic beverage made from grapes. We shared some of what we are grateful for with Rason because Oprah Says© sharing is good. Oprah Says, it's the ripple effect. Of course, Kyuti and I had a lot of the same things listed because, let's face it, great minds think "Let's get drunk and make Oprah Winfrey Gratitude Journals™."
Here's just a sampling of some of the things we are grateful for, as we wrote them Sunday night, March 4th, 2007, THE BEGINNING OF THE REST OF OUR LIVES:
Oprah Winfrey
This delicious Riesling I'm drinking
"Six Different Ways" by The Cure playing in this bar right now
wigs
wig caps
Robert Downey, Jr.
pen and paper
breathing
text messages
stretching and kicking
Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy For Girls
surviving
Our own genius
memorable quotes
Corey Hart
nice mouth
Kyuti bought me my 4th glass of Riesling
Oprah Winfrey as Santa Claus
sex that I'm gonna have
Drunk
Irish Spring - cutting the soap
"White Nights"
This went on for pages, and in between we did each other's MASH and then I did Rason The Bartender's MASH and was pleased to be able to tell him that he would not be marrying his current girlfriend, but, rather, the Icelandic musical genius Björk. I am not sure whether he was grateful or not, but OPRAH SAYS be grateful for what you have and what you will have in your future because you are THE ARCHITECT OF YOUR OWN LIFE.
