Today's New York Moment
Bombing towards the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan on the back of Rocket's scooter this morning on my way to work. He's in last night's tuxedo and I'm in denim and flip flops. We stop at a red light and a white Verizon van crosses in front, making a left hand turn. As the van rounds the corner beside us the driver sticks his head out the window, smiles and calls out "Heyy-Heyyy!" He passes and a woman riding by on an orange bicycle comes into view. She's wearing white cropped pants and a baby blue T-shirt with red felt iron-on letters that read "DUMP HIM NOW". The light turns green. I clank the front of my helmet against the back of Rocket's and he smiles and I wrap my arms around him tighter as we go.
